مادبا Madaba

مادبا، المعروفة باسم “مدينة الفسيفساء”، تحتضن خريطة مادبا الفسيفسائية الشهيرة في كنيسة القديس جاورجيوس. تعود هذه الفسيفساء إلى القرن السادس، وتُعد واحدة من أقدم الخرائط للأراضي المقدسة، وتتكون من أكثر من مليوني قطعة. تعمل مادبا أيضًا على إنشاء أكبر فسيفساء في العالم، تصور طريق الملوك، باستخدام أكثر من 3.5 مليون قطعة. تُعد المدينة مركزًا لحرفية الفسيفساء، مع العديد من الورش ومعهد مادبا لفن وترميم الفسيفساء الذي يدرب الحرفيين الجدد.

Madaba, known as the “City of Mosaics,” is home to the famous Madaba Mosaic Map in St. George’s Church. This mosaic dates back to the 6th century and is one of the oldest maps of the Holy Land, made up of over two million pieces. Madaba is also working on creating the world’s largest mosaic, depicting the King’s Highway, using over 3.5 million pieces. The city is a hub for mosaic craftsmanship, with many workshops and the Madaba Institute for Mosaic Art and Restoration training new artisans.
